About this offer
Call me psychic, but I see a lot of candy, pies, and cakes in your future. Ok, ok, fine, maybe I'm not clairvoyant, but there's lot of sweet deliciousness coming your way these next few months — obviously, you need a wine to match!
Dessert wines are insanely hard to make, and therefore are some of the most expensive, sought-after wines in the world! You'll often find them in different-sized bottles—375ml or 500ml, for example—because they're so damn hard to produce, and each year only tiny amounts are made!
Not all sweet wines are created the same. In fact, making sweet wines may be even more complex than regular winemaking!
There are wines affected by the noble rot 'botrytis'; fortified wines; grapes that have been raisinated in the sun; solera-aged wines; ice wines… phew! But the one thing they all have in common in their complexity, finesse, and deliciousness!
Dal Forno Romano is one of the most storied estates in all of Valpolicella.
Four generations have lived and worked the land, selling grapes to other estates, but in 1983, Romano dal Forno was at a crossroads in his life: continue on with what was a struggling industry at the time, or find a different vocation? (spoiler alert: he went with wine). Unlike his father, who primarily grew grapes, Romano began making his own wine. And guess what? It was AWESOME!
So awesome, in fact, that is caught the attention of critics everywhere, and Dal Forno became revered for its voluptuous, groundbreaking wines! Amarone is truly a special, special wine! Although it's technically a dry wine, it toes the sweet line because of the way it's made. Grapes, laid out on straw mats to dry, which raisinates the fruit and concentrates the sugars. Called passito, this historic method of winemaking creates wines with tons of jammy fruits, cocoa, mocha… you get the idea! Try it with both steak AND chocolate and you'll see what I mean!
Dal Forno only makes this wine in the BEST years — it is a true rarity! But you're getting 3 different vintages to compare and contrast! Better yet, you're getting TWO bottles of each!
